Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Shine with NAACP Image Awards Nominations on Blue's 13th Birthday

Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy are celebrating Blue’s 13th birthday with some exciting news! Both of them received nominations for the 56th NAACP Image Awards. The nominations were announced on Tuesday, and the awards ceremony will be live on February 22 in Pasadena, California.

The theme for this year is “Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence.”

Beyoncé got three nominations for her latest album, Cowboy Carter. She is up for Outstanding Album, Outstanding Female Artist, and Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for her track “16 Carriages.”

Meanwhile, Blue Ivy was nominated for Outstanding Character Voiceover Performance in a Movie for her role in Mufasa: The Lion King, where she made her movie debut. This nomination is especially special because it’s on her 13th birthday.

In Mufasa, Beyoncé returned as Queen Nala from The Lion King (2019), and Donald Glover voiced King Simba. Blue Ivy voiced Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala.

Beyoncé’s album Cowboy Carter was released earlier in the year. She had teased it during a Super Bowl commercial and dropped singles “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em.” The album has become a big influence on the spotlight on Black country artists.

Beyoncé shared that the album was five years in the making and was inspired by her past struggles in the country music world.

Most recently, Beyoncé performed a memorable halftime show during the Ravens-Texans Christmas Day game, where she sang live from Cowboy Carter, with Blue Ivy dancing alongside her.
