While Harry and Meghan haven’t publicly shared who they chose to be Harry’s godparents, rumors have been swirling about the possibility of the Duke of Westminster and Tiggy Pettifer, Harry’s childhood nanny, as options. Lilibet, the couple’s second child, did have one godparent named: Tyler Perry.
During Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docu-series, they shared that they’d chosen the director to be Lili’s godfather.
“They said, ‘Well, we’d like for you to be Lili’s godfather.’ I go, ‘Whoa.’ I had to take a minute to take that in,” Perry shared during Harry & Meghan.
“And I thought, ‘I’d be honored. I’d absolutely be honored.’
The only reservation he had was the actual ceremony, which gave him pause.
“I go, ‘Uh, hold on a second. Does this mean we got to go over there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all that out?” he added.
“I don’t want to do that. Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then that’s okay.'”
