Whoopi Goldberg attempted to cleanse the sacred aura of The View set after she accidentally muttered Donald Trump’s name at the Hot Topics table on Tuesday’s episode.
The Oscar-winning actress, who has long vowed to never say the former president’s full name on the air, let his name slip during a discussion about the upcoming presidential debate.”I think it would be remiss of us to not say, Joe Biden knows how to do this. He knows how to do this, he’s quite good at this. You can’t refute anything with him — when I say him, I mean…” Goldberg trailed off before Joy Behar said “Trump,” prompting Goldberg to say “Trump” herself.
Goldberg quickly stopped herself mid-sentence and pretended to spit on the stage, prompting applause from the audience. “Did you say his name?” cohost Sunny Hostin excitedly asked, to which Goldberg responded by playfully accusing Behar of scheming to get her to say it: “I said his name. It was a trick, and it made me do it!”
