After reaching the final of the 2024 Libema Open, Bianca Andreescu stated that she is willing to take a celebratory plunge into the lake should she win the WTA 250 grass court event. This is Andreescu’s first championship match on grass since her appearance in the final of the Bad Homburg Open two years ago where she lost the title to Caroline Garcia. After being sidelined for nine months due to a stress fracture in her back, Andreescu made a return to the court at the 2024 French Open. Despite her absence, she managed to reach the third round before falling to eventual runner-up Jasmine Paolini 1-6, 6-3, 0-6.Looking to secure her first title since she won the 2019 US Open by defeating Serena Williams in the final, Bianca Andreescu kicked off her Libema Open campaign by defeating qualifier Eva Vedder, with a final score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
