This is the incredible moment a daredevil leaped from a plane without a parachute – but was saved from plummeting to his death by attaching himself to another skydiver before hitting the ground.

In 2008, American stunt performer Travis Pastrana jumps out of plane without a parachute and took skydiving to whole new level

Video of the stunt shows he made contact with two other skydivers while falling, who then set about attaching themselves to him before releasing a parachute.

The remarkable footage was filmed in 2007 as a promotional tool for Red Bull and X Games – an annual extreme sports event.

Recorded in the skies above Puerto Rico, he throws himself from the plane after drinking a can of Red Bull while wearing just shoes, shorts and sunglasses.

While in mid-air, he meets up with another parachuted jumper who latches him into a harness in order to make a tandem landing.

Pastrana is perhaps most famous for becoming the first person to land a double backflip in the sport of freestyle motorcross in 2006.

However, performing stunts with such regularity means he has suffered a shocking amount of injuries.

He has dislocated multiple parts of his body, had surgery on both wrists and twice on his back, and undergone an astonishing nine operations on his knee.
