“We saw pride, give away to tragedy,” Biden said in an address on Friday, May 31. “A beloved mom, local DJ was gunned down. Dozens were injured. Among the chaos, this team stepped up again.

“Trey [Smith] helped pull people to safety,’ Biden continued. “James [Winchester], who lost his own father to gun violence and assured kids they would be OK. One teen remembers Coach Reid giving him a hug, telling him, ‘Just breathe, just breathe.’

“One boy was separated from his dad, Clyde [Edwards-Helaire] helped keep him from harm. Clyde is exceptional. This team is exceptional.”
