The Duchess of Cambridge wanders deep in thought in a sea of red as she prepares to plant a ceramic poppy to honour the dead of the Great War.
Kate today joined her husband Prince William and Prince Harry to stare in awe at the sculptured red petals flowing around the Tower of London. The moving tribute, the work of ceramic artist Paul Cummins, will eventually number 888,246 poppies – one for every British or Commonwealth serviceman killed from 1914 to 1918.Kate, wearing a blue LK Bennett dress, called the scene “amazing” and at one point gently wiped her eye.
The royals were guided to the spot to place their tributes by former head of the British Army Sir Richard Dannatt.
