Prince William has issued an apology following King Charles’ decision to postpone royal engagements until the upcoming UK elections.
The Prince of Wales was slated for a trip on May 23, 2024, however, he can no longer attend the engagement as scheduled.In a statement to HELLO! magazine, Kensington Palace said: “We look forward to rescheduling in the future and are extremely sorry to anyone who has already travelled.”
The statement comes after Buckingham Palace relayed the monarch’s decision to call off further royal engagement after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a date for elections.
The announcement read: “Following the Prime Minister’s statement this afternoon calling a general election, the Royal Family will – in accordance with normal procedure – postpone engagements that may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign.”
