The Saints did not provide a timetable for when Williams could return to action.
Williams went back to the Saints’ locker room during the second quarter of the team’s victory on Monday against the Carolina Panthers. He was listed as questionable to return but ultimately didn’t see another snap.
The 28-year-old exited the game with 29 rushing yards on nine carries.
Williams is playing in his first season in New Orleans after signing a three-year, $12-million contract as a free agent in March. The BYU product found a new home after leading the league with 17 rushing scores to go along with 1,066 yards with the Detroit Lions in 2022.
